An update to UI 3.1 launching for Galaxy S20, A51 and more ‘today’!

A UI 3.1 debuted with the Galaxy S21 series and was later introduced to the Galaxy Tab S7 / S7 + and Galaxy S20 FE through a firmware update (although Samsung decided to remove the plug from the S20 FE release, probably due to one or more errors that went unnoticed during the test). The great news is that Samsung is now ready to bring One UI 3.1 to the masses and take the update to more Galaxy devices.

Samsung has confirmed that the One UI 3.1 update based on Android 11 will be available for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 10 series, as well as the Galaxy A71, Galaxy A51, A90, A80, A70 and phones. Galaxy A50 mid range as of today. In addition, all of the company’s folding devices, including the original Galaxy Fold, the Z Fold 2 sequence and the Galaxy Z Flip, have been confirmed to receive One UI 3.1 soon.

When, you ask? Well, the implementation window will vary depending on the region and device, however, Samsung claims that One UI 3.1 will start to hit the waves starting today, February 18th, so with a little luck, all phones mentioned above will be running One UI 3.1 by the end of the month or even before the end of the week, although Samsung probably wants to gradually release the firmware from one Galaxy model to another instead of updating them all at once.

Not all features of One UI 3.1 / Galaxy S21 arrive for existing devices?

Samsung says the update will bring some of the new features of the Galaxy S21 camera to the Galaxy S20, including enhanced Single Take and the object eraser tool. Unfortunately, features like Zoom Lock and Director’s View are not mentioned, although the previous one was available in the Galaxy S20 FE update that was retired. The integration of Google Discover on the home screen is also not mentioned, only minor features, such as the ability to remove location data before sharing images and sharing files securely through private sharing.

Galaxy Buds Pro owners will have the ability to use the 360 Audio feature with One UI 3.1, and the update will also enable automatic switching, which allows Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Buds + to switch between your phone and tablet Samsung automatically.

We will have to confirm the full list of new features when the update is actually available and we have a chance to test it out. We will keep you updated as soon as the release of One UI 3.1 for each of these devices begins and, as always, we will offer the possibility to download the next firmware manually through our file.
