An impressive 40-character free trial can point to the release date for the fifth season of Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition

Currently, only for PlayStation users, it seems

It’s been over six months to date, but we’re finally just one day away from seeing what the future of Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition has in store.

To help celebrate Winter Update and the end of the competitive season, Capcom has launched a new free trial version of Champion Edition that includes all 40 playable characters. What may be more interesting than playing Gill or Seth now for most, however, is the time of judgment and, specifically, when it ends.

As of now, the current demo is only available to PlayStation 4 (or PlayStation 5) users, so PC players may be out, unfortunately, according to 4Gamer.

Although we now only know Japan’s end time, it looks like it will be available after 11:00 pm Pacific time on February 24, which may indicate when we will be able to see last season’s launch as well.

It would make sense that Capcom did not want to spend some extra resources to update a free version of SF5 that would be taken down in just a few days, so the launch of Season 5 may not arrive until February 25 if that is indeed the case.

On the other hand, the editor can also be more open and allow free players to take advantage of the update for a few days to try to get them to buy the full version later.

In previous years, Capcom generally launched the new season shortly after the Capcom Cup ended in December, although its cancellation and tomorrow’s Winter Update will throw this entire manual out the window.

The Capcom Pro Tour 2020 Season Final is scheduled to take place from February 20th to 21st with two days of online games scheduled, and considering that the Capcom Cup should happen at the same time, there’s also a good chance we can still see it that Sunday .

The Winter Update of Street Fighter 5 will be the place to finally see all that Dan has to offer as the first DLC character in S5, although Rose is also confirmed to make an appearance as well.

This will also serve as one of the first times that SF5 developers will sit down to discuss the balance changes that will come to SF5, as well as the new battle mechanics that will come into the game.

Hopefully, Capcom will provide a release date tomorrow during the broadcast, but they can also just tell us to tune in to the CPT finals to find out when we can play new SF5 content after more than a year without substantial updates.
