An exceptionally warm start to the New Year!

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – A strong storm system pushing to the southeast will bring an exceptionally warm start to the year for Lowcountry. An onshore flow from the south will also bring us some showers and some sea fog, along the coast, during this afternoon. It is a fog beginning inland, but the fog will dissipate as a warm front rises north of the area in the late morning. We hope that a cloudy sky will give way to sunny peaks this afternoon and that it should warm up our temperatures in the mid 70s today. Some showers are possible this morning and afternoon, however, most of the day must be dry. A cold front will produce strong storms today in Georgia, but those storms are predicted to weaken as they move across the Midlands and towards our coast tonight. The aforementioned cold front will stagnate across the area on Saturday, allowing a low pressure area to follow our area later in the day. This means an increase in the chance of rain from some showers in the morning to probably rain in the late afternoon and evening. The rain should leave the coast on Sunday morning and the sun will return at midday. It must be a beautiful Sunday afternoon with highs in the mid-60s.
