Amtrak catering service on long distance routes

Amtrak said on Wednesday that it was restoring daily service on 12 long-distance routes, following schedule reductions related to the pandemic last year.

The railroad also said, “Due to Covid’s relief funding, Amtrak will maintain and restore operations and remove the more than 1,200 employees laid off during the remainder of FY21 and FY22.”

The railroad added that “funding is pending President Biden’s signature on the final bill.”

The railroad will again offer daily service on routes such as the California Zephyr and Empire Builder from May 24, and will continue to add service until June 7, when the daily service on the 12 routes will be fully restored.
