Among the misfortunes of the vaccine, Europe enters into a blockade … again

Several European states and cities are closing in again amid the so-called ‘third wave’ of the coronavirus pandemic, a development that comes against a backdrop of months of failures by the centralized European bureaucracy to control vaccines, leaving the ex-EU member of Great Britain running ahead like a “speedboat”.

Germany, France, Italy and Poland are among the European nations that are entering or extending the blockages this week, as they experience sudden increases in the number of coronavirus cases. Italy’s new blockade began on Monday, with tens of millions of Italians immersed in the so-called ‘red zones’.

The 11 regions, which cover most of the country, are areas that the Italian government considered particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus. Within them, all businesses, except the essentials, are closed and residents are subject to strict travel bans. Like previous blockades in Italy, citizens must print and fill out an official form from the Italian government if they want permission to leave their own homes.

The French capital, Paris, will begin a new month-long blockade on Friday night. Like other European nations, the government blamed a “third wave” of Coronavirus, reports the BBC. Like Italy, non-essential deals would be closed and Parisians would not be allowed to travel to other parts of the country without a legal reason, and would have to fill out a government form if they wanted to.

Poland will also go into blockade at midnight tonight. This will last for three weeks and comes in a “fast-growing” coronavirus case scenario, Political reports. Again, a third wave was cited.

In the central European country, a wide range of companies are condemned to close, including shopping centers, leisure activities such as skiing and swimming and cinemas.

Germany is looking at more blockades today. Health Minister Jens Spahn said, according to Reuters reports, that: “The growing number of cases could mean that we cannot take further opening steps in the coming weeks. On the contrary, we may even have to go back ”. Deutsche Welle claims that the “third wave” of Coronavirus started in Germany, Europe’s largest economy.

These developments go against the drama taking place in the capital of the European Union, Brussels, with Eurocrats trying, failing and then trying to pinpoint the blame, the progress of vaccination across the block. While other countries made rapid progress in getting vaccine contacts and orders last year, the European Union – amid claims that EU member states would get vaccines earlier and cheaper due to their collective bargaining power through Brussels – saw she was captivated by bureaucratic inertia and got her orders months late, and supposedly her contracts were in very bad shape.

As things stand, the European Union shook from vaccine critics to the vaccine crisis this year, giving enough injections to inoculate 12% of the bloc’s population. The close neighbor of Europe and a former member of the United Kingdom, on the other hand, administered enough injections to give a dose to 40 percent of people. In real terms, the EU and the UK have given 9 out of 100 and 38 out of 100 people at least one chance so far.

For comparison, the United States gave 22% of people their first dose.

It is not clear whether Europe’s low levels of vaccination have left it vulnerable to the so-called third wave, needing further blockades or not. However, sources in the mainstream European media have repeatedly, though indirectly, suggested that there is a link.

That does not explain, however, how the UK – well ahead of the European Union in vaccinations and despite facing supply shortages due to India’s supply withholding due to meeting its July goal of vaccinating all adults – is being informed that another wave and blockade is expected later this year.

Breitbart London reported this week that, despite the success of the vaccination, the UK’s top statistician was predicting a “third wave” of coronavirus this fall. He told television: “… we also need to recognize that this is a virus that will not go away, and I have no doubt that in the fall, there will be a new wave of infections”.

As things stand today, the UK government is expected to end the blockade – including major social events like festivals and nightclubs – “not before” 21 June.
