Ammon Bundy will not wear a mask in court, so the judge orders him to arrest for not appearing

According to Ada County Sheriff’s spokesman Patrick Orr, the Idaho Supreme Court has a mask mandate for anyone entering a courtroom, but when Bundy showed up on Monday morning for the first day of his jury trial, he didn’t use one and was denied entry.

Magistrate Judge David Manweiler then issued a no-show warrant, a misdemeanor.

Bundy was arrested and taken to Ada County Jail, where he is being held on $ 10,000 bond, Orr said.

CNN contacted Bundy for comment, but did not receive an immediate response. It is not clear whether he has a lawyer.

Bundy faces charges of misdemeanor and resistance to arrest, linked to the August incident in the Idaho State House. He was arrested for refusing to leave the Capitol in Boise during a special session of the legislature.

“The police were forced to physically remove Bundy from the Senate Gallery,” said police at the time.

Bundy and others were on the Capitol demanding an end to the state of emergency.

He made national news in 2016, when he led an armed occupation of federal land in Oregon. The acquisition of a wildlife refuge headquarters lasted 41 days.

A man in the group, LaVoy Finicum, was shot and killed during a traffic stop attempt weeks after the occupation began. Bundy was among several people arrested.

He and others were indicted by a grand federal jury, but he was acquitted on charges of possession of a firearm and conspiracy to prevent federal workers.

Bundy is the son of Nevada farmer Cliven Bundy, who in 2014 became involved in an armed confrontation with the federal Bureau of Land Management over grazing rights for his cattle.
