Americans who give birth in 2021 are eligible for more moeny stimuli

  • Congress passed a new $ 1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill on Wednesday.
  • Americans who gave birth at any time in 2021 are eligible to receive additional stimulus money.
  • President Joe Biden is expected to sign the legislation on Friday.

Americans who give birth in 2021 will be entitled to an additional $ 1,400 stimulus check as part of the new COVID-19 relief package approved by Congress, according to a Democratic aide familiar with the relief legislation.

President Joe Biden is expected to sign the “American Rescue Plan” bill COVID-19 on Friday, after the House passed it on Wednesday.

As part of the relief bill, any American who earns up to $ 75,000 annually is eligible to receive a $ 1,400 stimulus check and couples earning up to $ 150,000 will receive a total amount of $ 1,400 per person, including children.

Payments are limited to $ 160,000 for couples, which means that filers who earn more than that do not qualify for a check.

As with previous stimulus packages, the new relief bill includes a provision that allows anyone giving birth in 2021 to receive an additional check for $ 1,400 for the baby. After the baby is born, parents can receive an additional $ 1,400 after completing their income tax return in 2022, said the Democratic aide. They are also eligible for a smaller amount if they earn just under $ 160,000.

Parents also qualify for an expanded child tax credit as a result of the legislation. For children aged 5 and under, parents can receive $ 3,600 each. They can also receive US $ 3,000 for children aged 6 to 17 years. Democrats aim to provide families with the receipt of the amount in a single installment at the time of tax or monthly checks distributed by the IRS.

Although Republican Party lawmakers have criticized the bill for lack of bipartisanship in its wording, recent polls show that the legislation is popular with Americans across the political spectrum.
