NBC confirmed Ferrerra’s return on Wednesday, sharing an initial photo of the 36-year-old actress returning to Cloud 9.

“It was a happy and bittersweet goodbye that we can’t wait to share with our incredible fans,” she added.

The first photo showed Amy trying on a blue Cloud 9 vest, indicating that she is returning to work, at least for now.

Ferrera’s character, Amy Sosa, manager of Cloud 9, was there from the start, starring in the first five seasons before announcing her surprising departure in February 2020, just days after the show was renewed for the sixth season.

NBC then announced in December that the current sixth season of the Superstore would be the last, and revealed in February that the end of the hour-long series will air on March 25.

The beloved series follows the diverse group of employees at Superstore Cloud 9, exploring the most current issues in the country, including health, immigration, unionization, the situation of the retail worker and more.

Since leaving the sitcom, Ferrera has turned his attention to the direction, having first taken charge of four episodes of the Superstore.

Most recently, she directed two episodes of Netflix’s Gentefied in its first season, while she also directed two more episodes in the second season.

It was also announced in February that she would make her directorial debut with I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter for Netflix.
