AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card targets 1440p games with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory

Back at CES 2021, AMD has confirmed that it will introduce more conventional RDNA 2 graphics cards, including the long-awaited Radeon RX 6700 XT in the first half of 2021. Well, it looks like more information has been confirmed by HardwareLuxx editor Andreas Schilling.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory, will be positioned in the 1440p gaming segment

During its official presentation, AMD revealed that it will have more desktop and mobility GPUs based on the RDNA 2 architecture launched in the first half of 2021. AMD has not specifically stated what these new products will be called, but we know from previous leaks that AMD has plans to launch more conventional options in the $ 500 segment.

The AMD Navi 23 RDNA 2 GPU reportedly powers the TESLA 2021 information and entertainment system, 10 power TFLOPs and can run Cyberpunk 2077

One of its new participants will be the GPU Radeon RX 6700 XT, which is expected to present the AMD Navi 22 GPU. The GPU Navi 22 is just below the GPU Navi 21 as a more conventional option. The leaked information suggests that the Radeon RX 6700 GPU will offer a 12 GB GDDR6 memory capacity and, as this is the size of the memory, we can expect a 192-bit bus interface. The video card will be positioned as a 1440p game card, while cutting-edge Navi 21 products are 4K cards.

AMD also presented a demonstration of an unknown Radeon RX 6000M mobility GPU running Dirt 5 at 1440p and delivering 60 FPS. It is assumed that the GPU is based on the Navi 22 SKU as well, as the flagship Navi 21 SKU is very power hungry for the mobility segment, similar to NVIDIA’s own GP102 GPU.

Finally, we have the specifications for the Radeon RX 6700 series which includes the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics cards based on the Navi 22 XT and the Radeon RX 6700 graphics cards based on the Navi 22 XL. The AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT with the full Navi 22 XT GPU SKU should feature 40 compute units or 2560 stream processors, while the Radeon RX 6700 with the Navi 22 XL GPU SKU should have a reduced configuration. The graphics card will have a 12 GB GDDR6 memory buffer along with a 192-bit bus interface. AMD will likely use 16 Gbps arrays, which would generate a total bandwidth of 384 GB / s for the cards.

AMD Radeon RX 6700 Series with dual slot cooling solution:

Moving on to the design, the two-slot card is similar in design to the three-slot offering, but with a slightly compact shape. This cover was designed for AMD Radeon RX 6700 series cards. The card features a fan design with dual axial technology and a large “R” logo in the middle and on the fans, which represent the Radeon brand.

The plate also has the Radeon logo illuminated by LED on the sides and has a large cut to release the heat from the aluminum heat sink. There are two 8-pin power connectors on the board, but we can also see 8 + 6 or configurations for the most energy-optimized variants. The card also comes with a dual slot format and must have an I / O similar to that of the Big Navi video card. This cooler is expected to house the Navi 22 GPU which is slightly smaller, but even larger compared to AMD’s Navi 10 GPU (RDNA 1) for Radeon RX 5700 graphics cards.
