Theaters will operate at 25% capacity to meet state requirements to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Illinois, added AMC. Filmmakers should also wear a mask and maintain social distance while in theaters.

AMC said guests can still book private cinema rentals for a personal movie shown to up to 20 people at amctheatres.com/rentals or via the app. To book, guests need to request a movie, time and date, then confirm and finalize their purchase, AMC said.

The company added that all sites are adhering to “strictly enforced” AMC Safe and Clean policies and protocols in the midst of the pandemic.

After leaving the mitigations of the Tier 3 coronavirus, other destinations throughout the Chicago area were also opened, including the city’s Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum.

Two counties in the Chicago area switched to Level 1 mitigations on Thursday, state health officials announced, allowing them to reopen meals in restaurants in a limited capacity, while another region of Illinois will be moved to Phase 4.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, Region 7, which is home to Will and Kankakee counties, can now enter Level 1.

The region was the only one in the Chicago area still under Level 3 mitigations this week. Most of the Chicago area is now under Tier 2 or Tier 1 mitigations.
