Amber Portwood is saying goodbye to her boyfriend, Dimitri.
On Tuesday night, the premiere of the 9th season of OG teen momAmber opened up about the struggles she faced with her Belgian boyfriend while they were on separate continents, telling MTV producer Townsend that Dimitri “has been calling me over and over” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I need to be aware of this dynamic because I have been in controlling relationships before,” said Amber, 30. “He’s possessive at a distance, he needs to know what I’m doing all day, every day,” she claimed.
Dimitri did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Tuesday.
Minutes later, Amber received a WhatsApp video call from Dimitri, who called from her home country and asked what she was doing.

“Nothing, I’m out there, wondering why I’m getting a million messages,” she said.
Dimitri replied, “but it’s not my fault,” adding that he called her often “because I think of you. I love you, I miss you so much.”
“There are times when I feel like it’s getting a little too much,” Amber told him, revealing her feelings about constant communication. “It is becoming a very possessive and unhealthy situation.”

“Being questioned so much by someone at a time like this is something that is not necessary for me when I’m dating,” she added.
Amber later discussed her relationship with ex Gary Shirley, telling him that she was done with Dimitri.
“We are not boyfriend and girlfriend,” she said. “He started to get to the point where he called and sent text messages over and over, over and over, throughout the day.”
Despite the separation, Amber said she was “good for now”.
At the beginning of the episode, the MTV star virtually met with her castmates – Cheyenne Floyd, Catelynn Lowell, Mackenzie McKee and Maci Bookout – and told them that she and Dimitri had not “seen each other for seven months” due to the pandemic.

“Oh my God, this is so long,” said Cheyenne, 28. “Is this because of COVID?”
“Yes, because of COVID,” Amber confirmed. “The thing is, he’s such a sweet guy, he’s incredible,” she added of Dimitri, and said, “but he’s very possessive and jealous because he’s not here.”
“Well, keeping those limits is very important to you,” Catelynn, 28, recalled Amber.
Amber met Dimitri online after her breakup with Andrew Glennon, with whom she shares her 2 ½ year old son, James. She is also the mother of 12 year old daughter Leah, who she shares with Gary. She and Dimitri met in person in an episode of OG teen mom, which aired in May 2020.
