Amber alert: Braiden Waters, 8 months old, found safe after being kidnapped from Dolton

DOLTON, Illinois (WLS) – An 8-month-old baby was found and is in good condition after an Amber Alert issued on Saturday morning.

Dolton police said the boy was sitting in a car seat in the back of a vehicle on block 1300 on Sibley Blvd, around 7:35 am, when he is believed to have been kidnapped by an unidentified man.

Waters’ father went in to get food and left the rental car running and unlocked with the boy in the back seat when someone jumped and took off, according to Dolton’s chief of police, Ernest Mobley.

At the time, it was not clear whether the child was in danger. Police said they expected the person to realize later that the child was in the back seat.

They were in a black 2021 Kia K5 with North Carolina license plate HKB6993 was last seen heading north on Lincoln Avenue.

It is not clear whether the vehicle has been recovered.

The baby is now being examined at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Mobley said.

The incident seemed random.
