Amazon revealed the project for the next part of its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, and one building stands out from the rest: a swirling glass tower covered in trees that rises to a point above the rest of the city skyline. Amazon calls the building “the Helix” because its corkscrew shape must be inspired by the “natural beauty of a double helix”.
It also – it must be said – has a distinct resemblance to the swirling poop emoji, albeit with some healthier colors mixed together.
Inside, Helix will be filled with a “variety of alternative work environments” that Amazon employees can use. Outside, there will be two sets of spiral paths dotted with local plants that you can literally climb. (Although you can bring a bottle of water – the plaster appears to show stairs along the entire route, suggesting it is a steep path upwards.) The building will be 100 meters high, according to Wall Street Newspaper. Amazon says it plans to offer public tours on weekends.

Amazon has a similarly prominent structure at its headquarters in Seattle. There, he has the spheres, three connected glass globes filled with foliage. Its design is echoed in Helix glass and similar green, albeit on a much larger scale.
Helix is still just a proposal, so Amazon will need to obtain local approval before construction of the building can begin.

Along with Helix, Amazon also revealed plans for other parts of its Arlington campus. It is also planning to build three 22-story buildings. Among them, Amazon plans to create a square full of green spaces and a dog race track that will be open to the public. The company plans to open space for retail stores and restaurants and, of course, food trucks. There will also be parking for 950 bicycles, according to the daily.
The first phase of Amazon’s Arlington headquarters was approved in December 2019. Construction of a pair of 22-story towers is underway.
