Kids Edition tablets are basically standard Fire devices, but with some extra benefits – they come with a two-year warranty, a case for children with an integrated stand and a year of Amazon Kids +. The latter, formerly known as FreeTime Unlimited, provides access to thousands of games, applications, programs suitable for children and more for them to use on the tablet. Kids + also has a dedicated Parent Panel, in which you can control what types of content your kids have access to, view their activities, set daily time limits, apply age filters and more.
In general, we recommend Fire HD 8 to most people thanks to its medium-sized HD display, USB-C charging and 12-hour battery. But the Fire 7 also has a lot going for it – it has a 725-inch 1,025 x 600 screen, 16 GB of storage, 2 MP front and rear cameras, battery life of up to seven hours and microUSB port for charging. But one of its biggest advantages is the low price. Fire 7 is an excellent and affordable option if you want your kids to have a bigger screen to watch their favorite shows and play on the go, but you don’t want to give them a card that costs hundreds of dollars.
