Amazon offers discounted Fire HD tablets and Kindle Paperwhite

Amazon Fire tablet packs are back on sale today

Ars Technica

Today’s Dealmaster is marked by a new round of business on Amazon’s Fire HD tablets. Although the deals do not correspond to the lowest prices ever seen on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, they are substantially below the typical street prices we see on Amazon for those looking for a cheap slate today. Offers include the Fire HD 8 for $ 65, the Fire HD 10 for $ 95 and the Kids Edition version of these slates for $ 90 and $ 135, respectively. As always, the Fire HD line should only be considered by consumers looking for a media consuming device as cheaply as possible. These tablets are not as well built or as fast as the basic Apple iPad, and are still overloaded with Amazon’s Fire OS skin, which excludes Google apps and the Play Store entirely (by default, at least). That said, for basic web browsing, reading e-books and viewing Netflix, they are more than competent, which is still a victory, given how little they will slow you down.

In addition, our round of offers includes discounts on Apple’s AirPods Pro, the excellent EU Wonderboom 2 portable speaker, a lap table we like, tons of video games and more. You can check out our full summary below.

Dealmaster has launched its own newsletter! Sign up to receive a shorter, well-selected list of the best technology deals on the Web – no nonsense, straight to your inbox and often before they reach the Ars home page.
