Amazon makes app icon adjustments after Hitler mustache comparisons

Amazon evidently made a small adjustment to its app icon after some people commented online that it resembled the facial hair of a famous 20th century dictator.

The company unveiled its new icon in January, replacing the familiar blue shopping cart logo with a brown cardboard box.

The cardboard box had the iconic smile of the Amazon, but just above it was an irregular piece of blue tape that evoked references to Adolf Hitler’s distinctive mustache.

“Someone should @amazon that a mouth with a mustache is a big deterrent …” a Twitter user commented at the end of January.

“The new Amazons app logo does not remind me of Hitler … The new Amazons app logo does not remind me of Hitler … The new Amazons app logo Does not remind me of Hitler …” wrote another user.

“The new Amazon app logo appears to be the THIRD most downloaded in the” Reich “section,” joked another Twitter user, referring to the alternative name for the Nazi regime.

The update application icon still has a neutral blue strip that is partially peeled off, without the jagged edge.
