Amazon executive attacks Sanders and proclaims progressive company policies ahead of union vote

A top Amazon executive attacked Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., In a Twitter post on Wednesday, suggesting that the senator was just talk and little action when it came to actually implementing progressive policies.

Tech giant Dave Clark, senior vice president of worldwide operations, accessed social media in response to a Business Insider article that reported that Sanders will go to Alabama on Friday to meet with Amazon workers who are trying form the first union in the company’s history. This vote is scheduled for next week.

Clark’s sharp comments were highlighted by the first of three tweets. “I often say that we are the Bernie Sanders of employers, but that is not right because, in fact, we offer a progressive workplace.”

Amazon was one of the first companies to raise its minimum wage to $ 15 an hour in late 2018, after Sanders applied a campaign of pressure on large corporations.

There are several reports stating that Amazon has sought to discourage workers from voting to join a union.

Sanders tends to target Amazon founder Jeff Bezos because of his fortune, but more recently, he focused on the union vote.

Sanders also went into a war of words recently with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, where the former Democratic presidential candidate accused Musk of being greedy and said the United States should focus its resources on the people who need them on Earth, not on space exploration.

Bezos was included alongside Musk in the Sanders tweet by naming the “two guys” who have more wealth than the poorest 40% of Americans.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Sanders will conduct a Senate Budget Committee hearing entitled “Finalizing a fraudulent tax code: the need to get the richest people and the largest corporations to pay their fair share of taxes.”
