Amazon is updating its Prime Video application to include a new feature: the ability to play episodes of a program in random order (via Android Central) This feature can make it easier for people who just want to watch a sitcom without actually having to to choose an episode. Clicking the button should just start playing the episodes in a random order.
Appeal initially appears to be somewhat limited – according to Android Police, does not allow you to shuffle the entire program, just a specific season. At the moment, it was only detected on Android.
Amazon may be trying to compete with Netflix to launch a shuffle feature: according to Variety, Netflix has announced that it will launch a random button for users sometime in the first half of 2021. Finally, I could be even more confused trying to watch JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
It is unclear whether (or if) this feature will come to the iOS or web versions of the app – Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
