METAIRIE, Louisiana – The historic Christmas Day performance of the New Orleans Saints’ back runner Alvin Kamara is a gift that continues to be offered.
Kamara’s NFL record, with six touchdowns, came at the perfect time for the fantasy football leaders who were using it in their league week lineups. And many of those grateful fantasy managers, in turn, paid with donations in honor of Kamara to a charity he supports.
Son of a Saint, an organization that advises boys who have lost their parents because of death or imprisonment, said it has received $ 21,000 from almost 400 donors.
“We are especially grateful to Alvin for choosing Son of a Saint as his favorite charity,” said founder Bivian “Sonny” Lee III, son of the late Saints defender, Bivian Lee. “As an organization, we have completed 10 years with the strike. from midnight, so that makes generosity even more significant when we start 2021.
“As we grow to 200 enrolled boys, generous donations like these allow us to have more impact and fulfill our mission. I want to thank Alvin Kamara and everyone who has donated so far.”
Kamara added 56.2 points in the ESPN PPR leagues (points per reception), the fourth most by any player in a game in the past 20 seasons. He jokingly said that he knows very well when fantasy managers are dissatisfied with his performance, so he liked to see that answer.
“People are strong in this fantasy football all year long. … I don’t even want to repeat some of the things they sent messages and tweeted, things like that. But it’s nice to see people keep their word and they are willing to donate. “said Kamara. “I don’t know how much you play fantasy football for; I never did. … But it’s a good organization. I am blessed to be able to help the Son of the Holy at the same time.”
Kamara, who was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career – among other honors – last week, said he did not waste much time thinking about his performance.
“I was blessed to be able to do this in a city I love with a team I love. It’s cool,” he said. “But I’m being totally honest – I’m always looking at what comes next, what else can I do. That’s what I’m looking for. … As a team, I think we have a lot more to accomplish.
“I don’t want to minimize and make it look like it wasn’t a big achievement, because it was. I was happier to just share it with everyone, like Drew [Brees] excited and sean [Payton] excited and all those excited guys. “
The Saints (11-4) won their fourth consecutive NFC South title with a 52-33 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in week 16. They still have a chance to reach NFC first place if they win their Carolina Panthers final – – but they would need both the Chicago Bears to beat the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks to beat the San Francisco 49ers. The Saints would win the first seed in a three-way tie with the Packers and Seahawks because of better performance at the conference.
