Almost 40 COVID pop-up test sites to open in Michigan

Health officials have been warning about spring break for weeks and Governor Gretchen Whitmer said she is particularly concerned about traveling to Florida.

April 3, 2021: Michigan coronavirus cases up to 692,206; Death toll now at 16,218

37 pop-up test sites will open in Michigan for people returning from a trip.

A complete list of test sites can be seen below.

Cars drifted across the Stevenson High School parking lot on Saturday. They were there to take the COVID test.

Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services are asking Michiganders to take the COVID-19 test when they return from spring break to help slow the spread of the virus.

Amy Johnson and her family have just returned from vacation.

“We were in Charleston, South Carolina, for spring break and we just wanted to make sure we were safe before we went back into the world,” said Johnson.

According to her, the process was quick and easy, getting the results in just 30 minutes.

This is something that the Lawmaster family wanted to take advantage of. Vincent Lawmaster plays hockey.

“For the hockey association, if you’re 13 for the spring, you need to take the test,” said Lawmaster.

For Gretchen Young, showing up was necessary.

“My daughter at home was positive two days ago,” said Young. “Yes, they recommended that we test the rest of the family to see where we are.

Michigan residents should also continue to wear masks over their nose and mouth in public settings, avoid crowds and maintain a social distance of at least six feet from anyone they have not traveled with.

It is also suggested that they carry hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if there is no availability to wash their hands with soap and water.

In addition, it is recommended that those traveling take the test three to five days after the trip and stay at home and quarantine during that period. If you don’t take the test, stay home and be quarantined for 10 days after your trip.
