Allen Robinson receives the franchise brand

USA TODAY Sports

Wide receiver Allen Robinson has been frustrated in the past by the lack of a long-term commitment from the Bears and that lack of commitment has left the use of the franchise brand on the table for the team this off-season.

According to several reports, the Bears chose to use this tag before Tuesday’s deadline. Since he had a $ 15 limit last season, Robinson would earn $ 18 million if he played the 2021 season under the terms of the etiquette.

There are two ways for the Bears and Robinson to avoid this. One is to reach an early agreement on that long-term agreement before the July 15 deadline, and the other is Robinson signing the label to pave the way for an exchange with a team that would presumably give him the type of contract he wants.

The last option is said to be on the table, so there may be more twists before Robinson knows where he will play in 2021.
