Negus George, 24, of Gooding Trace, Malabar, Arima, appeared virtually before magistrate Cheron Raphael, accused of killing the clerk sometime between January 29, when she disappeared, and February 4, when her body was found.
He was not called to plead since the accusation was made in an accusatory manner.
Also appearing before the magistrate was George’s wife, George’s wife, Giselle Hobson, 37.
Hobson, who lives at the same address as George, was not charged with Bharatt’s murder, but is accused of receiving stolen items belonging to the court clerk – his bank card, clothes and earrings.
Hobson and George are the parents of a small boy.

Both were denied bail and were held in custody until March 10, when matters will be submitted to the hearing again.

The two appeared before Raphael at the Arima Magistrates’ Court, where Bharatt worked as a clerk and where she left on the afternoon of January 29, before embarking on what she believed to be an “H” taxi to travel to her home in Arima Old Road, just five minutes by car.
She never reached her destination.
The charges against George and Hobson were made on Wednesday night after homicide detectives met with Public Prosecutor (DPP) director Roger Gaspard, SC, and were given the green light to proceed based on information obtained during the course. research.
Two other suspects who were arrested on January 31, Andrew Morris, 35, and Joel Balcon, 37, the main suspect who also went by the name “Devon Charles”, both died in the hospital some time after being arrested by Team police Response to Special Operations (SORT).
The autopsies concluded that both suffered several injuries.
The investigation into Bharatt’s kidnapping and murder was conducted by ASP Douglas and Insp Hosein of the Region 2 Homicide Investigations Department, while George and Hobson were indicted by PC Israel Emmanuel of Arima’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Bharatt’s funeral will take place today.
His body will be taken to the family’s residence at 9 am, then to the Arima Court of Justice.
