All sling tours in Florida are closed after teenagers get stuck

All sling trips in Florida were closed after a cable failure in Kissimmee left two teenagers suspended in the air for nearly two hours on Thursday before being rescued, according to authorities.

The attractions were closed as a precaution so that the manufacturer can conduct an investigation, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said in a statement to NBC News. The other attractions are located in Daytona Beach, Orlando and Panama City Beach.

Officials said the tour in Kissimmee was last inspected by the department on March 19 and “no problems have been identified”. Park management reported that a cable failed during the trip, while a redundant security cable remained intact.

The Osceola County Fire Rescue rescued the teenagers, who were suspended 30 to 40 feet in the air. Authorities said no one was injured in the incident.

The four attractions will remain closed until authorities consult with the manufacturer and the state agricultural agency conducts its own subsequent inspection, officials said.
