It was announced Tuesday that a large number of clothes from the TV presenter – 14 suits, 58 dress shirts, 300 ties, 25 polo shirts, 14 sweaters, nine sports jackets, nine pairs of dress shoes, 15 belts, two parkas and three pairs of dress pants – were donated by his family, headed by son Matthew Trebek and Danger! Steven Zimbelman, for the Doe Fund. The organization works to break cycles of homelessness, incarceration and criminal recidivism, and the clothes will be delivered to participants in the reentry program for job interviews.

Matthew said the charity’s main mission, which is “ready, willing and able”, is “something I knew my dad would be fully on board”, as Alex was generous when it came to helping the homeless . “We live in a world where dressing appropriately can make a difference in how someone feels about himself and how he is perceived. My hope is that the confidence that someone can feel when wearing one of my dad’s suits and ties will help them get a job and, more importantly, help them realize that they are not alone ”.
Jean wrote on Instagram that he “sincerely appreciates” his son and his “great idea”, adding: “I am happy to know that Alex’s suits will be donated to such an important cause”.
On Monday, Alex’s eldest daughter Nicky Trebek, adopted through his marriage to first wife Elaine Callei, shared a sweet photo of the Danger! host, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer on November 8 at age 80, on the three-month anniversary of his death.
“It’s been 3 months and instead of posting something sad, I #choosejoy,” she wrote on Instagram.
She said Trebek’s photo pointing his hands up “always makes me laugh”, especially “thinking about how many times he did it trying to get it right”.
Nicky, who was a Danger! producer until she left office earlier this year, after her father’s death, added hashtags “always missing you” and “milestones and memories”.
Her friend replied that she was very happy that Nicky won her father’s bracelet, probably the one seen in the photo. Nicky replied, “My brother has the original and my sister,” Alex and Jean’s daughter, “Emily,” and I have replicas. It’s wonderful that the three of us have correspondence [ones]. “

The TV host’s mother found the bracelet in a CVS parking lot in the 1990s and gave it to him as a gift. He wore it all the time, realizing afterwards that the random find was actually Gucci and sold for $ 800. The bracelet also kicked in when a woman broke into his hotel room in 2011 and stole his wallet, in addition to the purse and Jean’s bracelet. Everything has been recovered, except the bracelet, despite his repeated efforts to find it, including contacting the thief in prison. He said it was “distressing” to lose him for his “value for sympathy” and looked for a replacement, as he was no longer. After extensive research, he got a second-hand version, and when he told his wife the good news, she surprised him by making one. In 2019, when telling the story, he said he had two of them – so it is possible that a third one was made so that the three children could have their own version of their beloved bracelet.
On Father’s Day last year, Jean, who married Alex in 1990, honored her husband in a post on Inside Wink, writing about how they were “so blessed to have two wonderful children, Matthew and Emily.
