Alex Trebek’s final Jeopardy shows start with an emotional message for viewers

Alex Trebek’s last week of Danger episodes started with a emotional message of the late host. During the opening moments of tonight’s episode, which was filmed just 10 days before Trebek’s death in November, the host addressed the audience with words of inspiration and hope.

“This is the time to give. I know you want to be generous with your family, your friends, your loved ones, ”he started. “But today, I want you to take it a step further. I want you to open your hands, open your hearts to those who are still suffering because of COVID-19, people who are suffering without guilt.

“We are trying to build a more kind and kind society, and if we all contribute a little bit, we will get there,” Trebek told viewers.

Trebek’s message got many Danger viewers, who remembered the host for his compassion, intelligence and class. “Wow, Alex Trebek’s speech to start Jeopardy tonight. What an inspiration, ”a tweeted. In an interview in The Today Show earlier this morning, Danger executive producer Mike Richards praised Trebek for his moving speech, recalling the day they filmed the episode in the studio. “In this very special and unbelievable final week, he comes and gives a talk about the importance of union and staying together and that the world is struggling, but we have to overcome this together,” said Richards. “We had chills. There are specific moments in Danger when you clap, and then there are times when you are quiet. There aren’t that many people in the studio because of COVID, and we all burst into applause. We were so moved that we had to applaud ”.

Trebek’s last week Danger the episodes air every night this week at 7 / 6c on ABC, concluding with their last new episode on Friday, January 8th.
