Alex Trebek’s daughter praises the late host of ‘Jeopardy’ after his last episode: ‘You were extraordinary’

Nicky Trebek decided to skip an online celebration of his 55th birthday, instead of praising his late father.

The singer, songwriter and fashion designer dedicated an Instagram post to “Jeopardy!” Host Alex Trebek on Friday, January 8, which also happened to be the last pre-recorded episode with his father.

“You were extraordinary !!!” She put the caption on her post next to a photo that showed that she had previously written “Jeopardy! Forever!”

And the fans wholeheartedly agreed with his statement in the comments section.

“Your incredible father will always be GOAT (the greatest of all time), and we, your fans, will always love you too. What an incredible man,” wrote an Instagram user. “Sending you a big hug, Nicky.”

“I watched with my mom. We both cried. I could stay over him forever, but I’m sure you know a lot more than I do,” commented someone else. “Thank you to your father for always having such a positive impact on my life just through TV.”

“Your father was incredible! He will be sorely missed – even by millions who have never met him, ”a different user shared. “Sending love your way! Tribute was bittersweet – I loved it! I loved the ‘punch’ in the end … I cried like a baby! Thank you for sharing your father with the world! “

Trebek died on November 8, 2020, at the age of 80. He had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Since then, pre-recorded episodes of “Jeopardy!” aired posthumously.

The program showed a video tribute that shows the highlights of the 37 seasons he presented.

“Dedicated to Alex Trebek”, said the text at the end of the tribute. “Forever in our hearts. Always our inspiration.”

Starting next week, the invited hosts will assume the role of Trebek in the question and answer program.
