The twins agreed to a $ 6.25 million one-year contract with veteran reliever Alex Colomé, a source told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The club has not confirmed the deal.

Colomé will receive $ 5 million in 2021 with a mutual option of $ 5.5 million in 2022 or a purchase of $ 1.25 million, a source told Feinsand.

Colomé, 32, could take on the closest role for Minnesota after Taylor Rogers and Sergio Romo shared the closing duties in 2020. Rogers remains at the club, but Romo is a free agent.

Colomé recorded an ERA of 0.81 with a WHIP of 0.94 and 12 saves in 22 1/3 innings last season for the White Sox, who signed closer to Liam Hendriks for a four-year contract. Right-handed Colomé has made 138 saves since the beginning of 2016, taking third place in the MLB, behind Kenley Jansen and Edwin Díaz during that period.

Over eight major league seasons with the Rays, Mariners and White Sox, Colomé recorded an ERA of 2.95 with 385 eliminations and 140 walks in 424 entries.
