Alec Baldwin says Cuomo ‘should resign’ if he threatened lawmaker Dem. Ron Kim

Alec Baldwin is considering intensifying the rivalry between New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Democratic state deputy Ron Kim.

Cuomo on Wednesday accused Kim of lying to the media about what happened during a heated phone call last week in which the governor allegedly threatened to “destroy” Kim because of his comments on the state’s nursing home scandal.

Baldwin accessed Twitter on Thursday, writing: “If Cuomo threatened Ron Kim’s career, Cuomo should resign.”

Kim said Cuomo made the threat hours after the New York Post reported that one of the governor’s top advisers admitted during a private call that his government hid data because he feared it could be “used against us” in a federal investigation. In response to last Thursday’s report, Kim said the aide’s comments sounded “as if they admitted they were trying to evade any incriminating evidence”.

Hours after Kim’s comment was published, the deputy received a call from Cuomo, who would have threatened to tarnish his reputation unless he retracted the complaint in a new statement. But Rich Azzopardi, a senior adviser to Cuomo, said that Kim is “lying” about the conversation.

Kim is an outspoken critic of the state’s handling of the crisis in the nursing home, whose uncle is presumed to have died of COVID-19 in a long-term care facility.

Meanwhile, Baldwin is one of the only stars to comment on Cuomo’s recent string controversies. The New York Post reported for the first time last week that Melissa DeRosa, the governor’s secretary, told Democrats in Empire State that the government feared that the data could “be used against us” by the Justice Department during a videoconference.

Jada Pinkett, Chelsea Handler and Sarah Silverman are some of the nearly dozen celebrities who praised Cuomo in 2020 for their daily instructions on the coronavirus that have yet to manifest themselves. Handler, 45, said he was horny for the governor and even expressed a desire to date him.

Baldwin’s tweet is also significant, as it comes almost a month after the Oscar nominee announced he would leave Twitter following his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s inheritance scandal.

“Twitter is like a party where everyone is shouting. It’s not exactly a party, ”tweeted the actor last month. “See you later.”
