Get ready to be absolutely devastated as you watch the film’s star, Alan Kim, receive this year’s Critical Award for Best Young Actor or Actress. “Thank you thank you. First of all, I would like to thank the critic who voted and my family ”, begins the 8-year-old girl, before being overwhelmed by emotion. “Oh my God, I’m crying.”
A week after his debut film took home this year as Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes, Kim beat his fellow nominees PalmerRyder Allen, Life aheadfrom Ibrahima Gueye, Never, rarely, sometimes, alwaysby Talia Ryder, The midnight skyCaoilinn Springall, and World NewsHelena Zengel. Kim continues to thank A24, Plan B Entertainment and the film’s director, Lee Isaac Chung, in tears. At least, that’s what we heard about our own strong hiccups, so don’t tell us anything about it.
