Alabama’s Juwan Gary leaves due to injury in South Carolina basketball

Alabama men’s basketball freshman Juwan Gary left the team with an injury early Tuesday’s game against South Carolina.

Gary left with 17:33 remaining in the first half. He held his left shoulder as he returned to the locker room.

Before leaving the court, Gary lay on the bottom line screaming in pain.

Tuesday’s game was Gary’s first career start.

Gary’s hometown is Columbia, South Carolina, where Tuesday’s game is being played.

South Carolina beat Alabama 6-2 at the point where Gary was injured. He made two points and an offensive rebound before leaving the game.

Alex Reese replaced Gary in the Alabama squad.

Alabama, ranked 11th in the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Survey, enters the game 15-5 overall and 10-1 in the SEC. More recently, Missouri beat Alabama 68-65 on Saturday.

The South Carolina Gamecocks enter the 5-7 clash in general and 3-5 in the SEC. On Saturday, the state of Mississippi beat South Carolina 75-59.

Entering Tuesday, Alabama leads the all-time series 31-16 against South Carolina.
