Alabama women’s tennis drops to 20th position in South Carolina, 4-2

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s tennis team pushed 20th in South Carolina earlier and tied the game 2-2, before losing 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Alabama Tennis Facility. Alabama is now 9-3 in the season, while South Carolina is 4-5.

After losing the doubles point and the fifth singles spot to the Gamecocks and dropping 0-2, Alabama recovered with consecutive wins in Alba Cortina Pou in paragraph 4 and Sydney Riley in No. 6 Moka Ito extended Mia Horvit in 34th position for three sets, while Sasha Gorchanyuk forced No. 30 Megan Davies into extra games in both sets.

“I am proud of our team for today’s effort and struggle. We demonstrate a lot of competitive character with the way we fight after losing the doubles point. We had a great response by winning the first four sets in singles. We are sure we are ready to make this discovery. I am confident that this team will continue to play together and improve with each match. There are many good points to take advantage of to move on to the next weekend. There are more opportunities ahead. “
