Alabama QB Mac Jones discusses meeting with Bill Belichick

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones appears to be on the New England Patriots’ radar. After having a good conversation with the organization last month and drawing attention to the Senior Bowl, Jones certainly made the most of last week.

Jones looks like he’s in the mix to go to the first round, potentially going to New England in 15th overall – or maybe even more. Although he is not the type of mobile defender that is popular in the NFL today, he had a stellar 2020 season as a pocket passer, with a 77.4 percent completion rate, 4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Appearing in Good morning football with Peter Schrager on Wednesday, Jones had an interesting response when asked if he had heard rumors about being on the Patriots’ radar.

“There are all kinds of things out there, I think. For me, I had to meet all 32 teams and the Patriots. There were some scouts there, so I hope I left a good impact on them. “

“I think Coach Belichick and Coach Saban obviously have a great relationship and I hope Coach Saban has good things to say about me, but I assume so. Obviously, one of my friends Damien Harris is also there, so I talk to him a lot. “

Although not exactly a concrete answer, it does give some hints about the connections the Patriots have with Alabama. While New England seeks its franchise quarterback, Jones may be an option for New England.
