The Alabama basketball game originally scheduled for Wednesday night at Texas A&M was rescheduled because of bad weather.
The game will now be played Thursday at 2 pm CT, the SEC announced Monday night as part of several other schedule changes.
Alabama coach Nate Oats said during his weekly radio show Monday night that the game being moved was a result of the freezing weather in Texas and not Alabama.
“They have bad weather down there. They predicted that it would be difficult to get out there and play the game, ”said Oats. “I’m not sure everything that has happened since the end. We were trying to do that. We thought we could do that. But I think it was a decision between management and the SEC office. “
Oats also noted that the new schedule means that his team will have a short rest period between returning from College Station on Thursday night and Vanderbilt’s reception at noon on Saturday.
“We had a quick turnaround now in the Vanderbilt game, which is not ideal,” he said. “A&M is coming out of a COVID break as well. This gives them an extra day of practice. I wish I had played the game on Wednesday. We will play Thursday.
“[That’s] out of our control. We need to control what we can control. We can control our preparation for both games, and our effort, and that’s what we’re going to be concerned about. ”
Alabama (17-5, 12-1 on the SEC) could win a portion of the regular season conference title with wins over Texas A&M and Vanderbilt this week.
Texas A&M has not played since January 30 because of the COVID-19 protocols.
