Airstream’s – CNN

Airstream's Flying Cloud 30FB is the first to be offered with office space directly from the factory.

The new Airstream Flying Cloud 30FB literally offers a remote office. Even in a 30-foot trailer, space is tight, so it’s not exactly a spacious workspace. Converted from what was originally a sleeping space in the trailer, it has a desk and an office chair that slides comfortably into a recess in the table. There are also connections for internet connections and a mounting location for a computer monitor.

The large trailer still has sleeping space for six people, including the office, which is equipped with a folding bed.

“We know that the work scenario will be changed forever by the pandemic,” said Bob Wheeler, CEO of Airstream. “This new offering reflects our commitment to be agile and react to the needs of current and future customers.”

Flying Cloud's tiny office turns into a sleeping space at night, if necessary.

This is the first time Airstream has offered a fully equipped workspace in a trailer straight from the company’s factory in Jackson Center, Ohio, an Airstream spokesman said. The small desk has sliding drawers and a built-in Blu-Ray player. Heavy curtains can be drawn on the windows to control lighting during video calls. Suspended storage areas have blank surfaces on their doors for taking notes and reminders. The space also has USB and HDMI ports and, of course, sockets.

In addition to some small beds, Flying Cloud has a queen-size bed, a bathroom, a separate shower, a kitchen and a small dining area. Airstream plans to add office space as an option on other trailer models in the future, a spokesman said.

The travel trailer weighs about 6,800 pounds and costs $ 107,500. It may take a while to get one, however. Sales of recreational vehicles and travel trailers skyrocketed during the pandemic as travelers shy away from air travel and hotels. The Airstream website displays an important warning that “Due to high demand, waiting times for new products are longer than normal.”
