Leaker Mr-white, who in the past has shared precise details about Apple’s product plans, today tweeted alleged images of internal hardware that will be used in second generation AirPods Pro headsets scheduled for release in 2021.

In the photos below, the hardware on the right side of the image appears to be the current irAirPods Pro hardware, while the hardware on the right is designed for the next generation AirPods Pro. The cables are in two different sizes, which Mr-white suggests is an indication that the AirPods Pro 2 could come in two sizes.
Rumors of Bloomberg suggested that the second generation version of AirPods Pro will feature a more compact design that eliminates the short stem that comes out from the bottom. The PAirPods Pro could present a rounded shape more similar to the headsets of companies like Google and Samsung and, for this design, it would make sense to offer different sizes for a better fit.
It is said that Apple is struggling to reduce AirPods to the appropriate size to eliminate the rod, so there is a chance that this will not happen, and that could explain why the hardware designs shared by Mr-white appear to be similar in size to current AirPods Pro hardware.
Rumors also said that irAirPods Pro will feature a new wireless chip. Mr-white says the new AirPods Pro still has a “W2 chip”, but it is unclear what it means. Current AirPods Pro use an H1 processor that has a wireless chip that is a successor to the original W1 chip in the first AirPods generation, so it is possible that W2 here refers to H1 and does not indicate any new wireless chip technology.
Mr-white has shared precise details of Apple in the past, but it is not always correct. Earlier this year, Mr-white shared images of a twisted cable that he said was for the iPhone 12 line, but it didn’t work. He also said that Apple is working on an Apple black pencil, and that it has not yet appeared. He did, however, share the first leaks from the Apple iPhone 12 casing and screen, which were accurate.
There is no information yet on exactly when an updated version of AirPods Pro will be released, but the updated headphones are expected in 2021.
