An Air Canada flight of the Boeing 737 Max ferry to Montreal was diverted in Arizona earlier this week due to an engine problem, the airline said on Friday.

Pilots on Air Canada flight 2358 received an engine alert shortly after takeoff from Marana, Arizona, on Tuesday, the airline said. The carrier was storing 737 Max jets there after the planes landed worldwide in March 2019, after two fatal accidents.

“As part of normal operating procedures in such situations, we decided to turn off an engine” and divert to Tucson, Air Canada said. The flight was carrying three crew members and no passengers. The plane remains in Tucson.

Boeing declined to comment and forwarded questions to the airline.

Belgian aviation website Aviation24.be said the plane had a “low hydraulic pressure indication”. Air Canada did not immediately respond to new requests for comment.

US officials lifted the ban on planes last month after Boeing made changes to the software that was involved in both accidents and addressed other issues. Canadian officials last week approved changes to the design of the planes.
