Titans running back Derrick Henry followed a regular season of 2,000 yards with one of the worst games of his career in the playoffs.
Henry made 18 40-yard loads in Sunday’s loss to the Ravens. Surprisingly, he didn’t win a single first down on any of his 18 shipments. (The Titans ended with a run down first, in an attempt by Ryan Tannehill’s defender.) Henry later recognized that it was a difficult game.
“This game will humiliate you,” said Henry, through the Nashville Tennessean. “It will show that you need to keep working.”
Henry said he will be motivated in this off season by his performance on Sunday.
“It will definitely hurt,” said Henry. “That will probably be on my mind for the rest of this year.”
The performance hurt for the Titans, who found that football’s old beliefs about relying on the game running in the playoffs sometimes result in a humiliating defeat.
