After being announced for PS4 almost seven years ago, Dead Island 2 has been in development for so long that it has now moved from being released on PS4 to being released only on PS5.

Job postings on the website of current developer Dambuster Studios, list the game for “next-generation consoles and PCs” without any mention of a PS4 release. This is yet another new development after years and years of game developers changing and Deep Silver still insisting that the game is coming. In April of last year, the game was also set to reach Sony’s next-generation console.

As seen by @ MauroNL3 on Twitter, the list also states that the game will be made on Unreal Engine 4 and will use the latest rendering technologies.

Dambuster previously worked on Homefront: The Revolution, which was not well received and released with errors and flaws. So, let’s hope that the amount of time Dead Island 2 is taking to develop will guarantee the game’s release in a good state.
