AEW Unveils Complete Key for Women’s Eliminator Tournament

The AEW women’s world championship eliminator tournament starts tonight at Dynamite. The contestants had already been announced, but the fights and the schedule were still unknown. That was until Tony Schiavone presented a full analysis of the support.

Schiavone gave us the first round games. The tournament will consist of two teams, one in the United States and the other in Japan.

USA:
Leyla Hirsch vs Thunder Rosa
Serena Deeb vs Riho
Tay Conti x Nyla Rose
Dr. Britt Baker DMD against Anna Jay

Hirsch against Thunder Rosa is scheduled for tonight in Dynamite. The date is not clear for the other three competitions.

Japan:
Yuka Sakazaki vs Mei Suruga
Veny vs Emi Sakura
Maki Itoh vs Ryo Mizunami
Aja Kong vs Rin Kadokura

The first round on the Japan side will be played on Monday, February 15 at 7 pm on the AEW YouTube channel.

This is a very strong tournament. For Japan, Kong and Sakura seem to be the favorites to win in the first round. I thought Sakazaki would be a block, but then Schiavone chose Suruga to win that side of the key. I don’t think he would do that just to have it returned immediately. Itoh against Mizunami is a dispute for me. Itoh has a strong cross appeal, however, Mizunami has the advantage of experience. It’s a difficult decision to predict a winner, but I’m playing Kong on the Japanese side.

For the US side of the bracket, three of the initial four matches appear clear. Thunder Rosa, Nyla and Baker must move forward. Deeb against Riho is a dispute. I tend to favor Deeb as the NWA champion. Riho doesn’t have the urge to go in and take Deeb down immediately. Whoever wins will be an exciting opponent for Thunder Rosa. Deeb would be a rematch for the NWA title fight, and Riho would be a unique fight. I am choosing Thunder Rosa to emerge at the top and Nyla to overturn Schiavone’s choice of Baker. This leaves the Native Beast to regain its status as a scary monster by defeating Thunder Rosa.

In the finals, I’m taking Kong instead of Nyla in a hoss fight to provide Shida with a different challenger.
