Addison Rae may be obsessed with herself – as she told the world in her debut single “Obsessed” – but she no longer seems so obsessed with Bryce Hall. The TikTok star who became a movie star seemed to miss out in a recent interview that his relationship with fellow TikToker Hall does not really exist anymore. She told Zane Lowe of Apple Music that the “Obsessed” hook came from a conversation with “my ex-boyfriend – my boyfriend at the time”. The slip comes after Rae appears to have stopped following Hall on Instagram amid recent rumors that he cheated on her with adult film star Dana Wolf on a getaway to Las Vegas. At the a story on Instagram at the time, Rae wrote to his followers: “When and if I want to share, I will make that decision”. And who are we to say if referring to an ex-boyfriend in one of the biggest interviews with a musician that an artist can do is part of that decision? (For his part, Hall insisted on twitter, “I didn’t cheat on Addison.”)

Anyway, as for the inspiration for the song itself, Rae talked about leaving the said (ex-) boyfriend when she went to the recording studio. “He looked at me and said, ‘I’m obsessed with you.’ And I said, ‘Me too,’ ”Rae explained. “And I really didn’t mean it. It was kind of an accident … But he said, ‘Oh, are you obsessed with yourself?’ And I was like, ‘You know what? I should be. ‘”Talk about composition! And it won’t be long before we hear more than singer and composer Addison Rae – she told Lowe that she has two more singles ready that she worked with producers Benny Blanco and Blake Slatkin. “It is not something that we are just launching and ready to go,” she said, adding, “We are working on a project.”
