Adam Sandler heats Happy Gilmore-Shooter McGavin rivalry

It’s all in the hips.

On the 25th anniversary of “Happy Gilmore”, star Adam Sandler hit the green to recreate the protagonist’s iconic swing and shared it for everyone to enjoy on social media.

After dusting his clubs, Sandler explained in the video that it was the first time that he took the memorable three-step approach to hitting a starting shot in 25 years. He admitted that he was scared before throwing the golf ball, just like his old character Happy did.

“Sniper McGavin, this is for you!” Sandler proclaimed just before taking his shot. “I’m not lying to you. This is broken. Crushed. It went very well. You are dead, sniper!”

In the film, which was released on February 16, 1996, Happy returned from four strokes to beat Shooter and win the golden jacket and save his grandmother’s house.

“Happy loves you all!” Sandler, 54, captioned his video on Tuesday. “Thank you for everything!”

Without ever being overtaken, Shooter McGavin – played by Christopher McDonald – wasted no time and clapped his hands.

“Have a nice trip, Gilmore,” said McDonald in a video posted on Twitter. “25 years old huh? Let’s see if it’s the Shooter tour? “

McGavin, err McDonald, then turned the camera around and gave a performance of putting what appeared to be the floor of his office in a glass.

“Why don’t you just find me on the ninth lawn at nine, Gilmore?”

The whole exchange drew the attention of the award-winning actor Ben Stiller, who played the nefarious asylum worker who “looked after” Gilmore’s grandmother.

“It’s a beautiful balance, Mr. Gilmore,” he replied to Sandler’s video. “Congratulations on your birthday, and for being such a loving grandchild. So happy to be a small part of taking good care of her during her ‘golden years’. “

Even the PGA Tour was keen to help celebrate the film, with golf stars like Jordan Spieth, Rory Mcllroy and even singer Justin Timberlake participating in a video compilation to honor Gilmore’s quintessential golf swing.
