The Jets are in a two-game winning streak after a 23-16 home win over the Browns, which ensured that they would not end up with the first overall choice in next year’s draft.
Other than that, little is certain about the future of the team. This includes the status of head coach Adam Gase, who seemed certain to be fired when the team lost its first 13 games of the season. This losing streak is a good case for separating from Gase, but he was asked if he thought the two wins would make him more likely to return for a third season.
Gase called it “something I can’t worry about” and said he didn’t speak to team president Christopher Johnson about his future.
“I didn’t think about it,” said Gase, through Mark Cannizzaro of New York Post. “I had no argument with Christopher about any of this. My job is to prepare for the next game, so that’s what I’m going to worry about. “
The Jets went from 1-8 to 7-9 last season, which led to questions about why the team couldn’t have played better earlier in the season. One could ask the same question about the past two weeks and whether there is reason to think that another year with Gase would be different.
