With the success of the Call of Duty: Warzone free-to-play mode over several years, some have questioned the need for annual releases of Call of Duty, but it appears that Activision has no intention of slowing down. No titles, subjects or developers are mentioned in the calls.Warzone will apparently remain a part of the plan in progress, with Durkin saying that the franchise “will benefit from an entire year of Warzone conducting updates to our premium content and incremental player investment in the game.”
Along with the new game, Durkin explains that there is “a fantastic pipeline of [Call of Duty] content ahead on all platforms. “He adds:” Call of Duty is entering 2021 with the largest community of players it has ever had to start a year. “
Later in the call, Durkin turned his attention to Blizzard, noting that Activision’s perspective “does not include the launch of Diablo IV or Overwatch 2 in 2021.” It was also mentioned that Blizzard has mobile and free “multiple” Warcraft games in development.
In other Activision news, the company was hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit over the character Mara from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
