FREDERICK, Md. – An active sniper was shot down in Ft. Detrick in Frederick, Maryland, after an incident on Tuesday morning, officials say.

The incident was initially reported at around 8:30 am on block 8400 of Progress Drive. Images from the scene show law enforcement activities near the gates of the military facility.
Authorities say two people were injured, but gave no details of the injuries.
All schools in Frederick are closed at this time.
The Maryland State Police is helping with the investigation and Governor Hogan has been informed of the situation.
