Ace Hood — one of DJ Khaledex-artists from – received an incredible Christmas gift to celebrate his success, as he became totally independent … and is courtesy of his wife, who has the perfect way of explaining.
The Florida rapper was greeted with personalized commemorative plaques from his wife, Shelah Marie, on Christmas Day … that she documented from her camera. She made them especially for him, while documenting the millions of streams he has amassed since leaving Universal Music Group and all of its subsidiaries (including We the Best).

Shelah writes: “When @acehood was on a major label, they were excellent at celebrating victories. Ace has so many plaques at the time. Since Ace became independent, he hasn’t received any plaques for his projects. Ace is very talented for not having your flowers while you can smell them. “
She goes on to explain that the plaques pay homage to her first two independent projects – ‘Trust the Process’ and ‘Trust the Process II: Undefeated’ – adding, “because in this house we don’t expect the validation we want – we give it to ourselves. I give it to you. love @acehood. “

You can tell how much that meant for Ace … he was almost crying as he unpacked the sweet present. It is also a symbol of how hard independent artists are if they are not part of the massive machine that is a major label. Not only are you no longer formally recognized … but most of the albums you can release later are dubbed “mixtapes”.
Ace left major labels in 2016 … and has been doing his own thing (very successful, as we can see) since then. Great that he has a support group that recognizes this.
