Aaron Rodgers says ‘Jeopardy!’ hosting as a guest is an ‘honor for life’, considers Alex Trebek a ‘legend’

NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers is excited about his new “Jeopardy!” show.

The three-time NFL MVP will serve as a guest presenter on the quiz show starting Monday, April 5.

“In addition to the Super Bowl, this is the honor of a lifetime,” said Rodgers, 37, in a promotion for the show on Twitter.

“Following in the footsteps of a legend is something I know a little bit about,” added Rodgers, which seems to be a reference to his career after succeeding Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, and now “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek.

Trebek died in November 2020 at the age of 80, after a 20-month battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He had been the host of the American game show for 37 years, a record.

While Trebek was still alive, Rodgers made an appearance in the 31st season of “Celebrity Jeopardy!” tournament. Rodgers competed and defeated investor Kevin O’Leary and former astronaut Mark Kelly.

The NFL star won an incredible $ 50,000 for the Macc Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research on childhood cancer and blood disorders.

Six years after his charitable victory, Rodgers is leaving “Jeopardy!” champion for quizmaster.

Competitors who will compete while Rodgers is the guest host will earn money that will benefit small businesses, according to the program’s 30-second promotion.

In another teaser shared on Twitter on Saturday, Rodgers said: “The key to being smart in football is to focus. And the key to really being good at hosting is that same focus.”
