All-Pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers says “I don’t think there is any reason why I won’t be back” with the Green Bay Packers next season.
But he added that his future is not necessarily in his control.
Rodgers was clarifying the remarks he made on Sunday after the Packers’ loss in the NFC 31-26 championship to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rodgers said after the game “there are a lot of guy futures that are uncertain, including me”.

“Obviously, after the season I had, potentially winning MVP and obviously we had another good race, I don’t think there is any reason why I won’t be back,” said Rodgers on Tuesday during his weekly SiriusXM radio presentation “The Pat McAfee Exposure.” “But there are not many absolutes, as you know, in this business. So, to make an absolute statement about something that is not absolute, I didn’t.”
While discussing his post-game comments, Rodgers said on Tuesday that “it kind of hit me right now”, as he was thinking about some teammates whose future was uncertain. The Packers’ list of potential free agents includes the All-Pro Corey Linsley center and Pro Bowl Aaron Jones running back, among others.
Rodgers was asked on Tuesday whether the comment about his uncertain future was an attempt to capitalize on his advantage after a season in which he won All-Pro awards. Rodgers launched 48 touchdown passes and five interceptions during the regular season.

Rodgers has spent his entire career in the NFL in Green Bay and has three years left over the four-year $ 118 million span that he signed in August 2018.
