Alemão deleted his posts and wrote: “I’m ready” in Spanish.
“We are certainly paying attention to these things,” said Boone on Thursday. “When I first heard about it last night, I saw it and was brought to my attention, I was a little surprised and immediately concerned, but I feel a little out of context, a little bit exaggerated.
“And I am comfortable that he is well, well and ready to compete. But it is something that we will continue to watch and, in the best way, we can try to ensure that he is in a good place. But I had a conversation about trying to be the smartest. and demanding as possible about some of the things that we publicly express. “
German was 18-4 years old with an ERA 4.03 in 2019 when he was placed on administrative leave that September 19, while the Major League Baseball investigated an alleged domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend, with whom he has at least one child. He missed the final nine games of the 2019 regular season and all nine games of the New York postseason.
He was suspended for 81 games on January 2 last year, a suspension that had 63 games remaining. He missed the entire 2020 season and the playoffs.
The Yankees’ reliever, Zack Britton, did not say whether German needed to talk to his teammates about what happened.
