A Ton Of James Gunn Fun – Deadline

Here’s the first trailer for the DC sequel directed by James Gunn of Warner Bros. The Suicide Squad, which has all the trademarks of Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker of a great retro hit single (Steely Dan’s “Dirty Work”) to mocking superheroes – only more obscene, as underlined by the label of the red band.

The film was not rated R (yet), but we heard that Gunn’s script definitely leaned heavily towards that rating, and you can see a little bit of that in the filming of the trailer that debuted on Friday.

For example, see the games between Idris Elba’s Bloodsport and John Cena’s Peacemaker:

“You are the leader, you are supposed to be decisive,” shoots Cena’s Peacemaker at Elba’s Bloodsport.

“And I decided that you should eat a big bag of shit,” replies Bloodsport.

The Peacemaker does not give up: “If this entire beach was completely covered in shit, and someone said that I would have to eat every shit until the beach was cleared for freedom, I would say, ‘No problem! ‘”

The discussion as the group creeps through the jungle leads Alice Braga’s SolSoria to ask: “Why would someone put a penis all over the beach?” Peacemaker replies, “Who knows why crazy men do what they do?”

As opposed to the dark and brooding tone of David Ayer’s Gotham 2016 Suicide squad and the canon of Zack Snyder DC, Gunn’s sequence is bright and colorful, and appears to be taking place largely in a Latin American country where the redesigned Suicide Squad was sent.

Several new characters appear here: Savant by Michael Rooker (who appears to have a bomb planted in his head by Amanda Waller by Viola Davis), Blackguard by Pete Davidson, The Thinker by Peter Capaldi (who is insulted by the Suicide gang that if he does certain things like owning custom license plates like Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn threatens, he dies), and Steve Agee fulfilling the dual role of Waller’s John Economos # 2 and the stupid King Shark. Overall, a ton of Gunn fun here we can’t wait.

Suicide squad hits theaters and the streaming service HBO Max from WarnerMedia on the same day, August 6, due to the pandemic. The first film opened at $ 133.7 million at the national box office, setting a record-breaking debut in August; continued to raise $ 325.1 million in the United States and $ 746.8 million worldwide.
