After reaching 18.8 million subscribers on YouTube and debuting his new $ 9.5 million home, some may say that David Dobrik is at the peak of his career. But what happens when you reach the top? Well, there is only one way back down. Since joining the platform in 2015, David Dobrik’s charm and sassy personality has quickly led him to YouTube stardom. The 24-year-old social media mogul is known for his weekly four-minute, 20-second vlogs, which show him and his friends, also known as Vlog Squad, running around Los Angeles playing tricks, wreaking havoc, and finally looking like they’re having more fun than anyone else. Vlog Squad has had a rotating cast since its inception; the current group includes David Dobrik, Jason Nash, Toddy Smith, Heath Hussar, Scotty Sire, Josh Peck, Corinna Kopf, Nick Antonyan aka “Jonah”, Jeff Wittek, Matt King, Carly Incontro, Erin Gilfoyand and Zane Hijazi . None of these members is a direct employee of Dobrik, but they definitely reap the benefits of his followers. He does, however, have three employees, who function as pseudo-members: Natalie Mariduena, Taylor Hudson and Ella-Priya D’Souza. Dobrik is quick to release the “next door boy” energy while soberly driving around his messy group of friends, while receiving the Kids Choice Awards and doing TikToks with Charli D’Amelio.
Although he gained fame on YouTube, he quickly switched to podcasting during the pandemic. He debuted his new podcast studio on his album “I Buy A NEW HOUSE !! (2021) ”video on February 8, saying,“ I can’t shoot the videos I normally would, like vlogs. But here we have a controlled space and a controlled environment. ”The hiatus from Dobrik’s regular videos ended up leaving room for former members of Vlog Squad to speak out against the good YouTube favorite boy.
Over the past year, several former Dobrik friends and colleagues have made allegations of sexual misconduct and intimidation against him and his group of young content creators. On March 1, Dobrik launched his new photo sharing app, “Dispo”, and the reviews proved to be the perfect platform for disappointed fans to voice their complaints and demand responsibility from him. Famous for ignoring controversies, Dobrik remained silent on these issues – that is, until last night, when he released a two-minute, 30-second video on his podcast channel “VIEWS”, launched last month, entitled “Let’s talk. “We’ve compiled a timeline of Dobrik’s confused past and even more confused present so you can decide for yourself whether the King of YouTube is over or not forever.

Former Vlog Squad member Nick Keswani appears on an H3H3 podcast known for reacting to the YouTube drama, specifically the Vlog Squad controversies. Ethan Edward Klein also hosts another podcast, entitled “Frenmies”, with former Vlog Squad member (and Jason Nash’s ex-girlfriend) Trisha Paytas. While on the podcast, Keswani tells how his time on Vlog Squad has damaged his mental health. Keswani suffers from a rare form of dwarfism that also left him blind in his left eye. During his time on Vlog Squad, Keswani was continually ridiculed for his height and disability. In the podcast, Keswani says: “I felt useless to be in these videos. Nash was aware of the catch; however, says Paytas, “there was no consent given. Because I was dating Jason, because I was a vlogger – is that my consent? She also asked Dobrik not to post the video entitled “I DELIVERED IN THE ROOM AT THEIR HOTEL (SURPRISE)”; the video is still live and currently has over 14 million views.

Dobrik posts a two-minute, 30-second video titled “Let’s Talk” on his podcast page on YouTube. In this video, Dobrik states that consent is at the heart of its content. He claims to disagree with some of his previous videos and apologizes directly to Seth François. “I just want to make videos where everyone, whether you are participating or watching, is having fun,” says Dobriks. “I missed the target with that one.” He goes on to address former members of the Vlog Squad, including Dom Zeglaitis, and says he distanced himself from them because he does not align with his actions and does not advocate misconduct. He ends the video with a promise: “I’m sorry if I let you down. Such things will not happen again. I learned from my mistakes and I also believe that actions speak much louder than words. You can take my word that I will change, but I will also show and prove that the mistakes I made before will not happen again. ”Dobrik does not respond to the claims of Paytas or Keswani.
